Anti-wear coating for rotating cutting tools, e.g. drills, comprises nitrides of chromium, titanium and aluminum. The coating is made smoother by reducing the number of microdroplets in it : An independent claim is included for a method for producing droplet-free anti-wear coatings using a Venetian-blind filter (1) in front of the arc cathode.
