PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a great displacement by making a measuring range of a displacement sensor using a Hermholtz coil not limited within a range of a uniform magnetic field of the Helmholtz coil. SOLUTION: This displacement sensor has, as constitutive elements, a set of two air-cored transformers 15a, 15b formed of the Hermholtz coil 10 and a detecting coil 20, a core 30 for detecting a displacement accompanying a shaft 40, and a magnetic shielding body 50 comprising a set of two nonmagnetic metals, an unnecessary magnetic flux is eliminated by the magnetic shielding body 50 to secure a moving space, the core is thereafter displaced in the uniform magnetic field of the Helmholtz coil 10 and across the center axis c1, while bringing the core 30 into a shape of point symmetric to the shaft 40, and is functioned as displaced along the center axis c1.
