<p>An autoloading gas operated firearm of the "bull pup" configuration capable of semi-automatic and automatic fire. Provision is made for quick release barrel interchange; and, a barrel with an integrally formed suppressor with internal discharge/venting of the gas operating chamber is described. The surfaces of sliding engagement with the bolt and bolt carrier are hard coated for wear resistance making lubrication unnecessary. The sight structure is positively registered. The sight retaining knobs may be tightened with a cartridge case. The sliding surfaces of the receiver and bolt carrier are fluted for dirt collection; and, the bolt carrier tubes and stock are provided with water drain holes enabling ready firing after water immersion. A safety is described on opposite sides of the firearm with all-around readily visible indicia of firing status. The magazine engagement is uniquely configured to prevent usage of non specific ammunition. A forward assist is provided for ensuring bolt closure; and, a bolt release is provided for bolt closing after the last round bolt hold open. Different bore size rounds may be fired by interchange of only the barrel, bolt assembly and magazine without tear-down. A quick-release sling mount is described. The sight structure includes protection for sight adjustment knobs.</p> |
