METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING CHANNEL QUALITY INFORMATION

A method for transmitting CQIs(Channel Quality Indicators) is provided to reduce the overhead due to the transmission of CQIs by transmitting the difference value between the maximum CQI and the CQI of each subband as the first feedback data and transmitting a variation value for the maximum CQI as the subsequent feedback data. An MS(Mobile Station) creates CQIs for a plurality of subbands respectively. The MS selects the first subband having the maximum CQI among the subbands. Then the MS selects the second subband having a CQI smaller than the maximum CQI, or the first CQI of the first subband. The MS creates and transmits the first feedback data composed of the first CQI of the first subband and the first CQI of the second subband. If the next transmission cycle comes, the MS obtains the second CQI of the first subband. Then the MS creates and transmits the variation value between the first and second CQIs of the first subband as the second feedback data.
