PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of deflection at both ends of a transmission belt and prevent early breakage of the belt in an elevator driving device using the transmission belt. SOLUTION: An elevator car and a counter weight are tied with a rope 12, and the rope 12 is wound around a sheave pulley 14. The rope 12 wound around the sheave pulley 14 is pressed with one belt span of the transmission belt 15. The rope 12 is held between the transmission belt 15 and the sheave pulley 14 to be driven. A projection strip is provided at the both ends of the transmission belt 15 along the belt longitudinal direction to prevent the deflection of the both ends of the belt caused by belt tension.
