<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a user's selection range and to provide the newest boarding reference information of public transportation in performing route calculation utilizing the public transportation in the midway to a destination. <P>SOLUTION: This car navigation system 1 comprises a control circuit 2, a position detector 3, a map data storage device 4, an operation switch group 5, a display device 6, a voice generating device 7, an external information acquisition section 8, and an external memory 14.
