PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a new cube-shaped nanoparticle. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a cube-shaped nanoparticle is a method for forming barium titanate by heating a titanium compound and a barium compound in a solvent, wherein the solvent is pyrolyzed to form water at 200-280°C. As a solvent, 2-methoxyethanol is preferable. The solvent can contain one kind or a mixture of two kinds or more selected from ethanol, methanol, propanol and butanol. As a titanium compound, titanium dioxide is preferable. As an average particle diameter of titanium dioxide, 2.0-10 nm is preferable. As a barium compound, anhydrous barium hydroxide is preferable.
