PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protecting apparatus making it possible to detect continuous expansion in a secondary battery at an early timing by automatically stopping power supply to an electronic circuit when an outer shape of the secondary battery is expanded and automatically restarting power supply to the electronic circuit when the outer shape of the secondary battery is recovered. SOLUTION: When the outer shape of the secondary battery is expanded, the protecting apparatus automatically stops power supply to electronic equipment. Therefore, a user senses some sort of abnormality and can take a suitable action at the early timing. Furthermore, when the outer form of the secondary battery is recovered, the power supply to the electronic circuit is automatically restarted. Therefore, the electronic equipment can be used continually by evading an excessive action against expansion problems with the secondary battery which are relatively not so acute.
