PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase denominations that can be handled without having to enlarge the external form of a coin insertion/dispensing device. SOLUTION: The coin insertion/dispensing device 1 is provided with a plurality of coin drop holes 16, along a coin carrier path where coins C are carried. First coin storage parts 8y are provided in a plurality of rows corresponding to the individual coin drop holes 16. A second coin storage part 8x is provided to form the upper layer side of the first coin storage parts 8y, corresponding to a second coin drop hole 16a which is one of the coin drop holes 16. A shutter 29 selectively opens/closes the coin drop holes 16, according to the denominations of the coins C identified by a denomination-identifying part. When the coin C falls by its own weight from the second coin drop hole 16a, the drop direction of the coin C receives interference from an interfering body 29 varied, according to the denominations identified in the denomination identifying part, and the coin C selectively reaches either the first coin storage part 8y on the lower layer side or the second coin storage part 8x on the upper layer side.
