PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method which enables a reduction in the amount of generated sludge to less than that of sludge generated by ordinary Fenton reaction, and decomposition of an organic matter in raw water by hardly causing clogging and deterioration of a decomposition rate during sludge circulation. SOLUTION: In a water treatment method where hydrogen peroxide, a ferrous salt or a ferric salt, and activated carbon are added to raw water containing organic matter to decompose the organic matter, it is regulates so that the loading of activated carbon are 1-20 times those of the added ferrous salt by weight, and those of returned sludge are 50-1,300 times those of the ferrous salt by weight, which enables the reduction of the generated sludge to less than the sludge generated by the ordinary Fenton reaction without addition of activated carbon, and the decomposition of the organic matter in the raw water by hardly causing the clogging and the deterioration of a decomposition rate during sludge circulation.
