A manual gas inflator (10) includes a cylinder status indicator (160) that is independent from a cylinder pierce pin (190). Prior to detonation, an indicator post (176) abuts a sensor protrusion (106), which positions a green surface (174) of the indicator (160) within the inflator window (25) to indicate that the attached cylinder (300) is ready for use. The jerking of a lanyard assembly (60) causes the pierce pin (190) to break the cylinder seal to allow gas to escape out of the cylinder (300) and into a manifold (220) secured to the inflator (10) and causes the indicator post (176) to break the sensor protrusion (106). As the protrusion (106) is broken, a second red surface of the indicator (160) is viewable through the inflator window (25) to indicate that the cylinder (300) has been used and unavailable for inflation purposes. |
