LOW-PRESSURE MERCURY VAPOR DISCHARGE LAMP FOR DISINFECTING A MEDIUM

<p>The use of certain wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation, in particular UV-C light for its purification, germicidal and bactericidal effect is well known. The invention relates to an improved discharge lamp for disinfecting a medium, comprising means (4) for covering a cold spot region of the discharge vessel (2) of the lamp. Thus the temperature of the cold spot can be held sufficiently high to secure an improved light output, substantially- independent from the temperature of a surrounding medium to be disinfected.</p>
