<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device compatible with high density which ensures optimal aberration correction by preparing a positioning mark which can be easily recognized by a liquid crystal optical element with high transmittance. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal optical element 1 is prepared in an optical path between a laser light source and an objective lens in the optical pickup device for giving phase modulation to the laser light emitted from the laser light source. The liquid crystal optical element 1 is equipped with; a transparent electrode 105 formed for phase modulation; a first orientation layer 108 which is rubbed in a first direction; and a positioning mark 107. The first orientation layer 108 is formed by covering an area containing the transparent electrodes 105 other than the positioning mark 107. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
