Disclosed is a system and method for managing the scheduling of the downloading of data eg patches to a computer, particularly to mobile devices such as notebooks and laptops. The method involves the steps of establishing a predetermined time frame for the downloads and a set of conditions for the downloads to be allowed. If the conditions are satisfied during the time period the downloads are allowed to take place. The time frame may be a non-use time window, which may be automatically obtained by monitoring and recording the computer activities over a long time period, eg weeks. An active protection system (APS) may be used to monitor the set of conditions allowing the downloads. The computer may be woken or automatically turned on to allow the downloads. The conditions to permit the downloads may include the orientation of the computer, if the computer is moving and/or if the computer is being used. |
