PURPOSE:To surely detect read/write fault related to a FIFO in the switch element of an ATM switch by evaluating the difference obtained by a difference detecting means to detect the fault. CONSTITUTION:This system consists of a FIFO 1, a staying cell number detecting means 10, a difference detecting means 2, a difference evaluating means 3, a test cell generating means 4, and a read means 5. The number of staying cells is read out when the switch element executes the normal switch operation, and the difference between this number and a value preliminarily forecasted by calculation is obtained, and this difference is evaluated to discriminate whether fault occurs or not. Thus, read/write fault related to the FIFO in the switch element is surely detected. |
