The method involves storing a product-specific threshold value for spectroscopic data of a mixture in an analysis unit. A time is preset in dependence of a technological value of a mixing process, where the spectroscopic data decreases below the product-specific threshold value within the preset time. An analysis signal is outputted by an analysis unit when the spectroscopic data does not decrease below the product-specific threshold value within the preset time, where the signal contains information that an observation window (2) is inadmissibly and strongly contaminated. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning an observation window for a spectroscopic analysis of the homogeneity of a mixture in a mixing container.
