METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CORRECTING PHASE ERRORS IN POWER AMPLIFIERS

A method and an apparatus for compensating for a phase error of a power amplifier are provided to compensate for a phase error by using a scalar value corresponding to a phase error based on a transmission characteristic of a power amplifier. A method for compensating for a phase error of a power amplifier includes the steps of: calculating a scalar value corresponding to a phase error generated in an amplification process based on an average vector of an amplified output signal of the power amplifier and an orthogonal vector for the average vector(S820,S830); estimating a phase error compensation angle of the output signal based on the scalar value(S840); and adding the phase error compensation signal to an input signal of the power amplifier based on the estimated phase error compensation angle.
