摘要 A liquid crystal display device and a fabricating method thereof are provided to use unused and wasted light as power and increase power efficiency of a backlight unit by forming display and non-display areas on the device and placing a photoelectric conversion element on the non-display area. A liquid crystal display panel(51) includes a color filter array substrate(100) and a thin film transistor array substrate(200) which are bonded among liquid crystal molecules(80). The color filter array substrate is formed on an upper substrate(88). The color filter array substrate includes a color filter array such as a black matrix(86), a color filter(84), and a common electrode(82). The thin film transistor array substrate includes a plurality of data lines(70) which are crossed between a lower substrate(60) and a gate insulating layer(64), and a thin film transistor(57). The thin film transistor array substrate has a semiconductor layer, which is formed with an active layer(66) and an ohmic contact layer(68). A protective layer(78) covers the thin film transistor and a pixel electrode. An area(C) which is overlapped with the thin film transistor array substrate and the color filter array substrate is a display region. An edge area(D) of the thin film transistor array substrate is a non-display region on which a photoelectric conversion element is placed. The photoelectric conversion element includes a first electrode, a second electrode(96), first and second ohmic contact layers(90,94), and an intrinsic semiconductor layer(92).
