A closer spring (19) uses a driven shaft (8) to move a door leaf or window casement in a closing direction. While the closer spring is under pre-tension, the leaf/casement opens with a drive motor (2) and closes through the action of the closer spring. A flexible element on a spring plate (20) transfers force between the drive motor and the closer spring.
