METHOD FOR PREDICTING MOTION VECTOR

A motion vector predicting method is provided to define a motion vector to be used in median operation if there is a block having a motion vector in a periphery of a block to be coded, thereby predicting a prediction motion vector of the block to be coded by using motion vector information of a peripheral block. First and second motion vectors of a block except a current block located in a periphery of a current block are obtained. A first motion vector of the current block is determined by applying median operation to the first motion vector of the block except the current block. A second motion vector of the current block is determined by applying median operation to the second motion vector of the block except current block. First and second motion vectors of the current block are determined by adding first and second motion vector differences to the first and second motion vectors of the current block.
