PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method which can solve a problem such as difference-in-level feeling of a toner image, and bronze phenomenon at the same time, removes image inhomogeneity due to surface ruggedness formed by the toner image on recording material, does not color the brilliance of the image and can provide the high-flatness and high-quality toner image. SOLUTION: The image forming method comprises: an image forming process of forming a transparent toner image on the uppermost layer of a colored toner image on the recording material S; and an image forming process of fixing the colored toner image and the transparent toner image on the recording material S, wherein the colored toner satisfies the condition of 0.5≤Amax≤0.85 when the maximum optical density per unit thickness of toner in the toner is Amax as an index for prescribing coloring power of the toner.
