<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flooding of a cathode by carrying out moisture management of a membrane-electrode assembly of a PEFC, and to prevent an operation voltage of the PEFC from dropping in continuous operation. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane-electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell includes a catalyst layer containing a cation exchange resin, a carbonaceous material, a water-repellent resin and a catalyst metal in each of an anode and a cathode. When it is assumed that the ratio of the water-repellent resin included in the cathode catalyst layer and the ratio of the water-repellent resin included in the anode catalyst layer are X (mass%) and Y (mass%), respectively, Y/X<1 is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
