PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the light quantity of a plurality of light beams which scan a scanned surface. SOLUTION: When scanning near the center point O in the writing area of the photoreceptor drum 201 is performed, the VCSEL<SB>11</SB>, and VCSEL<SB>15</SB>which are mostly remote from each other in a main scanning direction are driven so that the intensity of the two light beams LB<SB>11</SB>and LB<SB>15</SB>is stronger than that of the light beam LB<SB>13</SB>of the center in the main scanning direction. For example, the VCSEL<SB>11</SB>, VCSEL<SB>13</SB>, and VCSEL<SB>15</SB>are driven so that peak values of the two curved lines L1 and L3, showing the light quantity distribution of the light beams LB<SB>11</SB>and LB<SB>15</SB>, are larger than a peak value of the curved line L2, showing the light quantity distribution of the light beam L<SB>13</SB>. Accordingly, the quantities of light of the light beams LB<SB>11</SB>, LB<SB>13</SB>, and LB<SB>15</SB>which are made incident to a deflection face become equal to each other.
