PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic stop device of a vehicular engine capable of automatically stopping an engine 1 without causing drawing shock. SOLUTION: This automatic stop device of a vehicular engine is provided with: an automatic stop starting means 2 which automatically stops the engine 1 when predetermined conditions, including a vehicle speed condition under which vehicle speed becomes zero, are established, and automatically starts the engine 1 when the predetermined conditions are established during stopping the engine 1; vehicle speed detection means 37 for detecting the vehicle speed; deceleration calculation means 41 for calculating the deceleration of a vehicle based on the vehicle speed detected during decelerating the vehicle; and delay time estimation means 43 for estimating delay time between the instant when the detected vehicle speed becomes a predetermined setting and the instant when the vehicle speed actually becomes zero based on the deceleration. The automatic stop starting means 2 determines that the vehicle speed condition is established when the delay time has elapsed since the instant when the detected vehicle speed becomes the predetermined value.
