The headlight has a set of light emitting diodes arranged on a printed circuit board and connected in series for receiving an operating voltage and an operating current. The diodes are electrically attached to a zener diode in an anti-parallel connection. A rear side of the printed circuit board is connected to a cooling body by a heat-conducting, electrically insulating material. The zener diode is designed as surface mountable components and arranged on the printed circuit board.
