OPTICAL TRANSMISSION APPARATUS AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission apparatus capable of more effectively using a band than the conventional technology and suppressing the influence of intermixed noise upon demodulation in transmitting an electric signal including a plurality of subcarriers by analog optical modulation.

SOLUTION: The optical transmission apparatus comprises the means for: generating an optical carrier of each channel; frequency-converting an electric signal including a plurality of subcarriers to be input to each channel; modulating the optical carrier of each channel into the electric signal after frequency conversion of a corresponding channel and generating an optical signal including a sideband corresponding to a plurality of subcarriers about each channel; and multiplexing the optical carrier of each channel and the sideband, wherein a wavelength multiplexed optical signal output by a multiplexing means has frequency arrangement including an optical carrier of other channel or a sideband of the other channel between the optical carrier and sideband of one and the same channel.
