PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform search based on a signal of sound or image in transfer of a content to check the copyright thereof based the result.

SOLUTION: The copyright confirmation device 1 reads copyright confirmation database characteristics that is characteristic data derived from contents in a database composed of the contents with known right holders, receives a content of a copyright confirmation object, and extracts characteristic data from the received content of the copyright confirmation object. The copyright confirmation database characteristics are searched using the extracted characteristic data. The content of the copyright confirmation object is determined to be untransferable when a content having the same characteristic is detected, and to be transferable when no content is detected.
