PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make uniform a state before a voltage corresponding to a gradation is written to a data line while suppressing what is called longitudinal crosstalk. SOLUTION: Before a selection voltage is applied to one scan line 12, all data lines 114 are precharged to a voltage Vb(-) irrelevant to the polarities and then precharged to a voltage Vg(+) or Vg(-) corresponding to a polarity corresponding to the writing polarity. When the selection voltage is applied to the one scan line 112, a voltage corresponding to a gradation of a pixel 110 corresponding to the intersection of one data line 114 and the scan line 112 applied with the selection voltage and corresponding to the writing polarity is supplied to the one data line 114.
