<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission system capable of achieving graceful degradation by giving strong error tolerance strength to a portion of important image data. <P>SOLUTION: The image transmission system has an image transmitter 100 which divides image data into a plurality of hierarchies, adds the division information to an extension information area of the undivided image data, generates a parity code for error correction to image data belonging to at least one divided hierarchy and transmits the image data with the division information attached and the generated parity code through a transmission line, and an image receiver 200 which divides received image data into a plurality of hierarchies on the basis of the division information, uses a parity code to correct an error of the image data when receiving the parity code to at least one piece of the image data of a divided hierarchy, combines image data of the respective divided hierarchies after error correction, and decodes the image data combined by the data combining part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
