PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid AF system focusing device which can more surely perform focusing to a focused state. SOLUTION: The focusing device is equipped with: first focus detecting means 6, 101, 102 and 103 which detect the focus information of an optical system 1, based on a pair of images with parallax; a second focus detecting means 104 which detects the focus evaluation value of the optical system 1 by the contrast information of the image by the optical system 1; and a control means 10 which executes first focusing for driving a focusing lens 1b, based on the focus information by the first focus detecting means 6, 101, 102 and 103 and after that, driving the focusing lens 1b, while detecting the focus evaluation value by the second focus detecting means 104 and executes second focusing for detecting new focus information by the first focus detecting means 6, 101, 102 and 103, in the focusing state of the optical system when the optical system 1 can not be focused to the focused state by the first focusing and driving the focusing lens 1b, based on the new focus information, when the optical system 1 can not be focused to the focused state by the first focusing.
