PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of reducing an influence of a false color resulting from displacement regarding color judgment. SOLUTION: As the same line in an original image, whether or not the displacement occurs between mutual positions on originals to which a plurality of line images acquired by a plurality of line sensors 33, respectively, correspond is judged by a displacement judgment part 71 based on variable magnification. Then, when the displacement occurs, a threshold used for color judgment is changed by a threshold changing part 72 and it becomes easier to be judged as a monochrome image in comparison with the case when the displacement does not occur. Thus, the influence of the false color resulting from the displacement is reduced regarding the color judgment and erroneous judgment as a color image by the false color is effectively prevented.
