PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator door safety device which is easily mounted, and its mounting method. SOLUTION: In the elevator door safety device and its mounting method, there is provided an opening part 4 for a landing button 5 which penetrates a wall 3 having a landing entrance 2 surrounded by a jamb 6, a long light projecting unit 22 is provided along a first pillar 7 of the jamb 6, and a corresponding long light receiving unit 20 is provided along a second pillar 8. A wire 15 connecting a landing button 5, the light projecting unit 22, the light receiving unit 20 and a control panel to each other extends along a beam member 9 of the jamb 6 from the light projecting unit 22 or the light receiving unit 20, passes through a cutout part formed in the wall 3 between the opening part 4 for the landing button 5 and the light projecting unit 22 or the light receiving unit 20, and connected to the control panel through the opening part 4 for the landing button 5.
