摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered friction material which has excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance and excellent performance during braking with a brake, such as capability of reducing the abrasion loss of a mating material by reducing the attackability to the mating material, such as a brake disk by maintaining the base texture of the sintered friction material at a mixed texture composed of ferrite and austenite. SOLUTION: The sintered friction material is formed by adding nickel or manganese of an austenite forming element alone or in combination to reduced iron powder of a high melting point as a principal component and adding a graphitization promotion element having a large graphitization tendency (Al>Si>Ti<C) thereto and sintering the mixture and the base texture is maintained at the mixed texture composed of the ferrite and the austenite. As a result, the formation of the pearlite in the reduced iron powder is suppressed and the base texture is made into the mixed texture composed of the ferrite and the austenite. Therefore, the fall of the melting point of the principal component is obviated, the high temperature characteristics and the corrosion resistance are excellent and since the material is softer than the pearlite, the sintered friction material having the reduced abrasion wear of the mating material can be obtained.
