REDUNDANCY PROTECTION METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR BRIDGE MODE RESILIENT PACKET RINGS

A redundancy protection method and system for bridge mode resilient packet rings belong to the field of network communication technique. The method includes: the first RPR bridge ring inter-connects with the second RPR bridge ring via four interconnecting bridge devices, the interconnecting bridge devices locating in the same bridge ring compose a protection group, in which the interconnecting bridge devices are divided into main interconnecting bridge devices and backup interconnecting bridge devices; when the backup interconnecting bridge device of the first RPR bridge ring switches its state, the direct-connecting interconnecting bridge device of the second RPR bridge ring corresponding to the backup interconnecting bridge device of the first RPR bridge ring which switches its state is informed to switch its work state; then the direct-connecting interconnecting bridge device of the second RPR bridge ring switches its work state. The system includes: the interconnecting bridge devices of the first RPR bridge ring and the direct-connecting interconnecting bridge devices of the second RPR bridge ring.
