PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a high-purity diol form. SOLUTION: The method for producing the diol form represented by formula (2) comprises the following process: A culture solution obtained by microorganismal transformation with sclareol and/or sclareolide as a substrate is put to filtration using a 10-100μm-mesh filter. The resulting solid fraction is washed with water or a solvent other than those with a SP value of 8.3-20 (cal/cm<SP>3</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>followed by dissolving the resultant cake in a solvent with a SP value of 8.3-20 (cal/cm<SP>3</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>and then putting the resultant solution to filtration or centrifugal separation.
