PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately measure the number of photographed images without asking for other people's help. SOLUTION: In response to setting of a processing start instruction to a photographable picture's number measurement setting section 150, a CPU 112 automatically recognizes insertion of a recording medium 40 via a media controller 146, reads out a photographed image's number inspection program and then performs the program. In accordance with the program, a digital camera 10 carries out a standardized battery life measurement sequence (e.g., a battery life measuring method). Upon stopping the program because of complete battery consumption, the number of still images (the number of photographed images) recorded on the recording medium 40 is finally determined. The staff of production steps takes out the recording medium 40, reads still pictures using a personal computer or the like and counts the number of photographed images, thereby confirming whether or not the number of actually photographed image is equal with or more than the maker-guaranteed number of photographed images.
