PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding fork device for actualizing smooth telescopic motion of a front end fork even when objects to be carried are heavy or a telescopic stroke is long, while reducing its cost. SOLUTION: The sliding fork device 1 comprises a fixed fork 11, an intermediate fork 21 supported on the fixed fork 11 slidably in the longitudinal direction, and the front end fork 31 supported on the intermediate fork 21 slidably in the longitudinal direction. With a rack 32 mounted on the front end fork 31, a drive pinion 6 engages which is driven by a rotation drive 2 mounted on the fixed fork 11. With a rack 22 mounted on the intermediate fork 21, a drive pinion 7 engages which is mounted coaxially with the drive pinion 6.
