摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car braking device for obtaining high braking force by improving the generation efficiency of Joule heat caused by eddy current loss. SOLUTION: Magnetic poles of armatures 11, 12 along the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of rails R1, R2 are either N pole - S pole or S pole - N pole. A selection changeover means is provided which changes over the direction of a DC exciting current flowing in the windings of each of the armatures 11, 12 so as to position the N pole - S pole and S pole - N pole alternately along the longitudinal direction of the rails R1, R2. Magnetic fields are generated in the direction orthogonal to car traveling direction and changes the direction of the magnetic fields alternately to the armatures 11, 12 arranged in the longitudinal direction of the rails R1, R2. As a result, the eddy current loss caused by these magnetic fields and the Joule heat generated by the eddy current are increased, so that high braking force can be obtained.
