A system and a method for determining an estimated battery parameter vector are provided to enhance accuracy of the determination of the battery parameter vector on batteries having non-linear operational characteristics. First plural predicted battery parameter vectors for representing uncertainty of parameters of a battery and the parameter of the battery are determined during a first time. A battery state vector having at least one value for representing a battery state is determined during the first time(62). Second plural predicted battery parameter vectors for representing uncertainty of output parameters of the battery and at least one parameter of the battery are determined based on the first plural predicted battery parameter vectors and the battery state vector. A first battery output vector having at least one measurement value of the battery output parameter obtained during the first time is determined(64). A first predicted battery parameter vector for representing the parameter of the battery during the first time is determined based on the first plural predicted battery parameter vectors, the second plural predicted battery parameter vectors, and the first battery output vector. |
