摘要 An apparatus and a method for decoding a BCA of an optical disc are provided to quickly perform BCA decoding by minimizing decoding errors. An apparatus for decoding a BCA(Burst Cutting Area) of an optical disc comprises an optical pickup(10), an RF amplifier(20), a PLL(Phase Locked Loop,40), and a microprocessor. The optical pickup is positioned in a BCA of an optical disc(1) and generates an RF signal when light is reflected after irradiating laser. The RF amplifier converts the RF signal into an electrical signal and amplifies the converted signal. The PLL creates a motor control signal by analyzing the electrical signal, and determines a continuous period and a discontinuous period of the electrical signal. The microprocessor initializes and keeps each component on standby in case of a nonsignal period and controls driving of each component in case of the end of the nonsignal period by determining the nonsignal period according to the discontinuous period.
