An electric connector is provided to hold the lead front end portion of a connecting wire target in the rear of a housing temporarily by the lead insertion grooves of a lead connecting wire sub member and support a core wire withdrawn from the front end portion of a lead and the rear end connecting wire portion of contacts protruded from the rear of the housing by the support of the lead connecting wire sub member, thereby improving the performance and productivity of the electric connector. An electric connector includes a housing and a lead connecting wire sub member(60). The housing has an opening, to which a connection target connector is inserted, in the front. Plural contacts are insulated in the inner side of the opening in the housing. The lead connecting wire sub member is disposed in the rear of the housing. The lead connecting wire sub member includes supports(63a,63b) and lead insertion grooves(621a,621b). The supports support the rear end connecting wire portion of the contacts protruded from the rear of the housing and a core wire(711) withdrawn from the lead front end portion of a connecting wire target to be soldered. The lead insertion grooves are formed at the same pitch as the contacts and insert and temporarily hold the front end portion of a lead(71).
