PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving and low cost sheet conveying device causing no breakage of a sheet and a switching member even when load is applied to the switching member in dissolving a jam around a switching part of a sheet conveying path. SOLUTION: The sheet conveying device comprises a conveying guide 33c and a stopper 32c with the switching member 24c moving from a first position toward the direction of a second position abutting thereon and restraining movement of the switching member 24c, the switching member 24c forms a gap allowing passing of a sheet therethrough to a second sheet conveying path 36 branched from a first sheet conveying path 35 when abutting on the conveying guide 33c, the stopper 32c is disposed in a position where the switching member 24c abuts thereon when a force is applied to the switching member 24c to deform it, and the switching member 24c forms a gap allowing passing of a sheet therethrough to the second sheet conveying path 36 when abutting on the stopper 32c.
