PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety of a rotary cutter knife with divided guard members movable between an extended position and a retracted position. SOLUTION: The guard member 30a and 30b are divided into two and mutually independently movable. The respective guard members 30a and 30b move between the extended position where an outer profile 31a extends beyond an outer circumferential edge 21 of a rotary blade 20 and the retracted position where the outer profile 31a is retracted such that the outer circumferential edge 21 of the rotary blade 20 is exposed. Thus, the cutting edge 21 of the rotary blade 20 is not exposed to the outside in the area where the cutting operation is not performed, and the cutting edge 21 is exposed only in a limited area required for the cutting operation, such that the highly enhanced safety is achieved.
