A louvre shutter is disclosed having a substantially rectangular frame composed of two side rails (1), a bottom rail (2) and a top rail. A plurality of louvre blades (4) each having two end faces (9), a transverse leading edge and a transverse trailing edge with the louvre blades (4) being located in a spaced apart array between the side rails by pivot pins acting in association with the end faces (9) of the louvre blades (4) and the side rails. A control rod (12) incorporating control rod fittings and blade fittings which connect the control rod (12) to the leading edge louvre blade, the control rod fittings and blade fittings each having an insertion end and an operative end. The insertion end of the control rod fittings being adapted to be engaged in a hole formed in the control rod (12) in a manner that the operative end of the fittings will project from the control rod (12) and wherein the insertion end of each blade fitting is adapted to be engaged in a hole formed in the leading edge of the louvre blade in a manner that the operative end of the fitting will project from the leading edge of the louvre blade. The operative end of the control rod fitting is adapted to engage with a corresponding operative end of a blade fitting in a manner that linear movement of the control rod (12) will result in rotary movement in unison of the louvre blade about the pivot pins.
