PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent another unauthorized image forming apparatus from using an optional program or optional data that might read from an image forming apparatus provided with the optional program and optional data.

SOLUTION: A program execution part 111, when executing a Java (R) program as an optional program, determines whether or not this apparatus 10 meets authentication information described in a license key 1652 described in activation data in an activation key file 165. The Java (R) program is allowed to be executed only if the apparatus 10 is determined to meet the authentication information.
