<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device of an automobile capable of enhancing durability and serviceability of a seat as compared to a seat-incorporated type airbag device and improving appearance inside a vehicle compartment by a seat cover, and capable of smoothly inflating an airbag in a normally functionable state no matter where the seat is located. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the side airbag device 20 of the automobile provided with seats 6, 7 slidable along the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body and a seat belt 15 for restraining occupants seated in the seats 6, 7, one end of which is installed in the vehicle body side face side of a seat cushion 12 constituting the seats 6, 7.
