PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read out a monochromatic image at a high speed, using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A line sensor 2 is provided with an R-color line sensor 21, a G-color line sensor 22, a B-color line sensor 23, and three groups of transferring shift registers 212, 213, 222, 223, 232, 233 corresponding to respective color line sensors 21, 22, 23. The number of output channels of each of the R-color line sensor 21 and the B-color line sensor 23 is "2" and the number of output channels of the G-color line sensor 22 for reading out a monochromatic image is "4".
