PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake valve controller of an internal combustion engine capable of effectively vaporizing and atomizing a fuel in cylinders without using a special means such as a tumble control valve and a swirl control valve and also a means for increasing a fuel injection pressure. SOLUTION: An three-intake valve direct-injection engine comprises a third intake valve 43c opening and closing a third intake port 42c opposed to an injector 2; and first and second intake valves 43a, 43b opening and closing first and second intake ports 42a, 42b adjacent to the third intake port 42c. During the cold operation, only the third intake valve 43c is opened during the intake stroke. Under low rotational speed and high load, only the first and second intake valves 43a, 43b are opened during the intake stroke.
