A high efficiency water cleaning apparatus is provided to filter solids contained in contaminated water of lakes in an eutrophication state using sponge, charcoal, aquatic plants, etc., and suppress the generation of algae permanently irrespective of the algae generating period by using dissolved components such as phosphorous and nitrogen in the contaminated water in the growth of plants. As a water cleaning apparatus for cleaning contaminants in contaminated water using charcoal, and for growing aquatic plants using dissolved components contained in the contaminated water, a water cleaning apparatus utilizing a charcoal-filled filtration layer and sponge filtration layers comprises: a first settling pond(10) in which the contaminated water is stayed temporarily to settle contaminants contained in the contaminated water, and which maintains a flow direction of the contaminated water constantly; one or more sponge filtration layers(20) having different porosities for filtering solids in the contaminated water; a charcoal-filled filtration layer(30) for filtering dissolved components and contaminants in the contaminated water; and a second settling pond(40) for settling contaminants remained in a fluid that has been filtered through the sponge filtration layers and the charcoal-filled filtration layer. The respective sponge filtration layers have hooks(21) for separation formed on top parts thereof. The charcoal-filled filtration layer has aquatic plants(31) planted therein. Further, a size of the charcoal is 2 to 3 cm, and the aquatic plants comprise a sweet flag or a reed. |
