<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure wherein a ring member is prevented from falling off from a barrel member or from rotating to the barrel member even if the barrel body for a writing utensil has a structure wherein the ring member is inserted in the opening section of the cylindrical barrel member which constitutes the writing utensil and consists of wood, and also, the barrel member made of wood is hard to split. <P>SOLUTION: This barrel body for the writing utensil has the structure wherein the ring member is inserted in the opening section of the cylindrical barrel member made of wood which constitutes the writing utensil. A diametral gap between the ring member and the barrel member is set to be from 0.075 mm to 0.125 mm.
